Whatever you do, do it for Jesus

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly."   Colossians 3:16-17   NKJV

Yesterday, we looked at walking in the peace of God. Today, let's carry on looking at v16-17, walking in the Word of Jesus. Note here in verse 17, Paul tells us to allow the Word of God to dwell in us richly. This means allowing the message about Jesus to fill our lives in richness so that we are able to teach and counsel each other as the need arises. The early Christians had access to the Old Testament and freely used it. But, they had no New Testament, no teaching books or such. Therefore, they had to memorise it and pass it on to fellow Christians. Some put this to music and they learned the Word this way, hence teaching in Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Contented people can easily thank and worship God in song because they are so grateful for all He does for them. Alternatively, discontented people are alway ungrateful and easily find fault in themselves and in others and what others have in comparison to themselves.

A good exercise is to think back on all that God has done in your life since you came to know Him. Think about what He has given you, how He healed you and when you were down on the floor in a bad state, how He picked you up and gave you hope. Write this list down, asking God to remind you of some of the things you have forgotten. Look at this list and thank Him for all that He has done for you and then praise Him for this in a recognised worship song or a song from the Holy Spirit probably in tongues. See how it releases you.

Once you have done this, keep the list and do it as regularly as you feel the need. All that we say and do should be associated with the name of Jesus Christ. Let others, especially non Christians, see this in you. They may laugh and persecute you but, that's ok, you know where you are going, they don't. And you can tell them this. The message is either black or white, there is no in-between. If you do get to talk about this, be gentle, remember a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1. It isn't just what we say, it is in what we do as well. We need to be mindful that the devil is around, especially within unbelievers. You want them saved, then show them Jesus when the time arises, don't become involved in unwholesome talk; choose your words wisely, what you do wisely and where you go carefully. Whatever you do, do it for Jesus.

If you are not born again and want to be, here I’ll below is a prayer of salvation:
'Lord Jesus, I have sinned and I ask you to forgive me and be my Lord and Saviour. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Spirit and give me a brand new start today.

In Jesus' Name. Amen'
