God is with us in times of trouble

"God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble. 2 Therefore, we will not be afraid, though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas. 3 Though its waters roar and foams and the mountains quake with its turmoil."             Psalm 46:1-3   CSB

Today, this is a very relevant piece of scripture, especially when we view what is happening all over the world, the latest being Japan, with its earthquake and their threat of a tsunami. As frightening and tragic as this can be, we cannot get away from the fact that scripture tells us: 'For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved' Romans 10:13. This is the foundation that all Christians stand on.

Tony Evans, Senior Pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas says: 'The Lord is a place of security for His people. He is never too busy but, always available. The Psalmist imagines terrible conditions on earth: earthquakes that topple mountains and cause tsunamis (v2&3). Yet even if the worst things happen, we will not be afraid, for God is still near to help'

Bad things happen and, always will, but when we stand on the foundation God provides for us - Jesus, we have a helper who is always found in times of trouble.' And this is the difference. We know our fate, if the worse comes to the worse, we will be in heaven with Jesus but, until then, we know that as we call to Jesus for help, He will be there, right by our side.
And this is true. Whatever frightening thing you may be going through at this moment, you can rely on Jesus' help, but you must call out to Him. He is your Saviour and He will save you from whatever if you call to Him. You don't have to go into lengthy prayers, not at all. In times of trouble you can just shout 'JESUS' and He will be there to help you. So, what is it that you are struggling with today? What is causing you sleepless nights or causing you to be so frightened? He has the ability and the power to help you right now. However, you must be willing to allow Him to resolve it in His Way. Remember: 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways'  Isaiah 55:4. You must allow God to intervene in the way He chooses, after-all, He knows far better than you do.

So whatever is troubling you at this time, give it to Jesus, call on Him. You know He can be trusted. Your welfare is uppermost in His mind. So have a chat with Him and let Him handle it for you.

If you don't know Jesus or, have fallen away, why not say this prayer right now:
'Lord Jesus, I have sinned and I ask you to forgive me and be my Lord and Saviour. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Spirit and give me a brand new start today.

In Jesus' Name. Amen'
