Compare the size of your problem to the size of God

"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. 4 In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?"   Psalm 56:3-4   NKJV.

David was a mighty man of God. He had killed lions and possibly the odd bear. He had slain that massive figure of a man - Goliath, when everyone else had ran away and yet, he became fearful on many occasions. In the midst of his fears, David uttered a prayer that all of God's children would do well to remember. 'Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You....What can flesh do to me?' He compared the size of his enemies to the size of his trustworthy God. Adopting such a perspective will transform how you face negative circumstances.

That is it in a nutshell. David says, 'What can flesh to do me?' In other words, if you believe that God is your Redeemer; that He is your friend, your Saviour and your King, then nothing will be able to stop Him from rescuing you. But you must put Him in the driving seat, you must allow Him to drive the car and take you somewhere you don't particularly want to go. You must trust Him.

Because of the state of the world at this time, prices of almost everything is going up at a much faster rate than our income is. Some are fretting because they don't know how they will get through this time. But really, men and women of God should not let this fear take them over. God is in charge and this means He will help you pay that gas and electricity bill. He will give you the wherewithal to tackle the mortgage, the rent, water and whatever bill comes your way. How?
By comparing the size of your problem to the size of your trustworthy God.

We are not into Fairy Tales, we are into the Bible - The Word of God and we should remember that, Jesus can fix it, He can do whatever it takes to make sure that you - His children, are taken care of. Fairy tales tell us that we don't really have to do a thing, the prince, the king or whoever will take care of it all and we will live happy ever after. The Word of God is similar but, with a subtle difference, we have to be ready to allow God to get us into place so that He can use us to bring forth victory. He does His bit, we do ours and the most important thing is that, we place Him in charge of our lives, we obey what He tells us and we trust Him totally, without fear.

Ask, Seek and Find

7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.             Matthew 7:7-8.  NKJV

The biblical principle of "Ask, Seek, and Knock" (Matthew 7:7-8) encourages believers to persistently seek God's presence and blessingsIt implies a progression: asking for something, seeking for deeper understanding, and knocking at the door to God's presence. This principle emphasises that God is ready to give good gifts to those who diligently seek him and believe in his promises.
Tony Evans comments: 'Prayer is an earthly request for heavenly intervention. There are
three answers to prayer: yes, No or Wait. If you haven't heard yes or no, then you keep
asking.'

This would explain why we have to wait for God's answer for some of our prayers. If He
hasn't indicated either yes or no then keep in there asking away until He does. It's a matter of
timing. Sometimes we get into a panic because we have lost something and no matter what we
have done, we can't find what we are looking for. This happened to me the other day. I needed to
go to the supermarket to get some bread. I grabbed my keys but then, couldn't find my wallet. I
checked my pockets of my other jackets and my jeans but, nothing. I began to panic as my
credit cards were in this wallet, together with a wad of notes. Wherever I looked, it was not there.
You know what? I didn't think to pray about it. When I eventually asked Jesus to help me find it,
He reminded me that I had taken the dog for a walk earlier and among the clean poo bags, my
wallet would be found. And it was. Not thinking, I had emptied the dogs lead and bags into the
box we keep them in, and if I had asked Jesus straightaway, I would have found them much
earlier. What a numbskull I thought of myself. I preach it but don't live it.

A lesson learned, always ask God for things, don't rely on yourself because it will lead to nowhere.
Do you see, we are all humans and we all make mistakes, don't ever believe any other way.

Stop hiding away

14“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.           Matthew 5:14-15.  NKJV

Stop hiding yourself away! You are special; special to God and special to the person He wants you to speak to. If you hide away, are you not doing what the scripture above is saying? If you know Jesus as your Saviour, you are a light to the world and this light can shine up in the darkness of someone's life, giving them a hope, where at this time there isn't one.

You may say that you are not capable of being a light to the world, you have no confidence. Join the club. Do you know how many of us shudder at the thought of speaking to someone about Jesus, The difference is, we know that the Holy Spirit will speak to the person through us.

You have a gift from God. You may not know what it is at this time, but you do have at least one. It may be evangelism - in a church setting or on the street. This can be really scary, I know. When I first did street evangelism I nearly died of fear but, once I started, it became easier. You may have a gift of music. But if you won't sing or play your instrument, it means nothing.

Deep down in your heart there is a gift or talent. What is yours? You don't have one? Yes you do, you just have to identify it and use it. It will be scary at first, that is for sure. When my brother in law first preached in his church, he was so fearful that he knocked a large glass of water over on the lectern. He had been waving his arms around in a nervous manner and failed to notice this glass. The results were, his notes were saturated and unreadable; the place was swamped with water and the people on the front row had their second baptism. This can happen when you first step out with your gift, but as you practice, it gets better each time.

The thing is, if you keep hiding your gift away, you will never know. When I first preached a sermon I was terrified, my hands shook so much that I couldn't turn the pages of my bible. Nowadays, it is as easy as breathing, one just gets used to it. Think of it this way, people need to know about Jesus, if they are not told and they die in their sin, they will not go to heaven. What if that was a friend or a family member. How would that make you feel?

There is someone whose heart is breaking through one thing or another. They have no-one in the world who cares about them. They have nothing to look forward to; no hope just a lonely, humdrum life. What would you do if Jesus told you to go and speak with this person? Would you go, or, would you walk away? This is putting a light under a basket if you walk away.

Stop worrying - the future is in God's hands

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of
my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? 2When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. 3Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.                   Psalm 27:1-3. NKJV

The composer Stuart Hamblin wrote in one of his familiar songs, 'I know not what the future
holds, but I know who holds the future'.Just reflect on those words for a few moments; If Jesus is your Saviour and Lord, then the future is your friend and you have nothing to fear - nothing.

The President may do this and the Prime Minister do that; the world's leaders may all be at loggerheads and threaten war on each other, The world may be annihilated within seconds but you know what? Jesus its still in control. You have no one to fear; you need not be afraid of anything or anyone, the Lord is the strength of your life. You have nothing to fear, Jesus holds the future. Even if your enemy should surround you, threaten you and make your life a misery, Jesus is at your side.

At this time, the world is in a confused state, power seems to be ruling and dictating to them and there is a feeling of, 'What you have, I will take from you.' If the worst comes to the worst, millionaires could be bankrupt in the blink of an eye. Businesses could collapse and many more things could go wrong. But, whatever happens, you know that Jesus is in charge. You know that He is your ruler, your Saviour, your King and most of all, your friend. Do you really think that Jesus is worried about the world's affairs at this time. He may be concerned because of the people, who He loves but, He is not worried. He has everything planned out and is totally in control.

Read what David said here, when the wicked came against him, his enemies stumbled and fell.
People may be strong but, they cannot take God on and win. It is a fool that tries. If people build their houses, businesses and everything else, on sand, then it will fall because the foundation is not strong enough to hold them. Unless they build upon the Rock (Jesus Christ), it will fail.
(Matthew 7:24- 27). Therefore, what you see in our world today, is it being built on sand or rock? If it is on the sand, it will all come to nothing in the end.

However, whatever happens, Jesus will still be on the Throne!

Follow the Truth

"But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.  21I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth".                   1 John 2:20-21   NKJV

If you read this passage from verse 18 through to 23, you will get the full message that John was attempting to explain to his fellowship of Christians. He was telling them to be ready and, of the truth because the end is coming soon.
This is what Warren W Wiersbe writes about this passage:

'This passage explains that two forces are at work in today's world; truth is working   through the church by the Holy Spirit and evil is working by the energy of Satan. The Holy Spirit, in Christians, is holding back lawlessness, but when the church is removed at the rapture (1 Thess 4:13-18), Satan will be able to complete his temporary victory and take over the world. God has warned the church family about the conflict between light and darkness (1:1 - 2:6) and between love and hatred (2:7-17). Now He warns them about a third conflict; the conflict between truth and error. For a believer to walk in the light and to walk in love is not enough, he or she must also walk in truth. The issue is truth - or consequences!'         Warren W Wiersbe

If you read v18, it can read to some people, especially young Christians, that God is ready to send Jesus right now, and this is the truth. However, we need to look at the time-clock here. As we know, time is very much different in heaven, in fact, it ceases to be, and '8But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day'. 2 Peter 3:8.
So God's idea of timing is far different to ours, this is why waiting for God to answer a prayer can seem ages; but not to God.

The important thing here, is that we follow the truth. People are fed up being lied to, they need the truth and, you and I have that truth within us. So, let's use it.

The Benefits of God - . Final Part

"Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s".                Psalm 103:5   NKJV

David begins Psalm 103 by calling upon his soul and his whole being to bless the Lord and to remember all His benefits. These are blessings David has experienced within his own life. He lists some of those benefits: forgiveness, restored health, deliverance, love, satisfaction, and renewed energy (Psalm 103:1–5).

Satisfaction and renewal are  wonderful benefits that the Lord gives us. Here we read 'Who satisfies your mouth'. In another version it reads 'Who satisfies your desires'. Yet in the Amplified it reads 'Who satisfies your years'. Surely this is leading to confusion, is it not? No, not at all. They all mean the same thing. God satisfies our mouths with good food, which in return satisfies our desire; and then God satisfies our years. This is just another way of saying, He meets our need of food and drink; our desires are met and over the years we are blessed with these benefits.

We all crave for satisfaction and this in turn leads to us being fulfilled and renewed in our mind, body and spirit. Jesus offers us all of this. He wants us to be satisfied; He wants us free from sin; He wants us healed and living in good health. This is why He redeemed us in the first place and, placed a crown on our heads signifying we are kings and priests unto God.

We have a hope where many in our world have none. We have so much to be grateful for and we should never forget this. With the satisfaction that God has given us, we have the ability to allow Jesus to totally transform our lives. When we allow Him to take charge of us, He is able to renew us and top us up with His life-giving Spirit. We can't do that ourselves, we need to want this and then ask Him to perform this benefit upon us.

Why not use these five verses as a template in your prayer time. If you do, I promise you will benefit.

The Benefits of God. Part 2

"Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,              Psalm 103:4    NKJV

To redeem is to buy back property which has been forfeited because of debt, or to buy back a person who had been sold into slavery (Exodus 6:6). This idea describes perfectly the work of Christ, who bought us back from sin and death through His atonement on the cross as our Redeemer (Matthew 20:28). Without this purchase, we would have been thrown into the pit of destruction.

If you can, think back on a time before you came to know Jesus when you knew beyond doubt that you were full of sin. The guilt was so heavy that you could hardly endure the weight of it all. You knew that what you had done was shameful but didn't know how to alleviate the pressure of it. Probably at that time, you may have prayed but, who to? Would God have helped you at that time? Yes He would have; He was really rattling your cage of sin trying to draw you to Himself. However, you did nothing and decided to carry the weight of your sin for a good time afterwards.
That is, until you could stand it no longer and crumbled in a heap and prayed; and God did the rest, bringing you into His kingdom. You were redeemed, all of those filthy rags of shame and dirt washed away by the Blood of the Lamb - Jesus.

And now, Jesus has crowned you giving you a title 'To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:6) His loving kindness and tender mercies has done this for you because His love knows no end. He is totally 100% committed to you and wants you to be the same. If you only knew what He wants to give you but you won't properly until you learn to be sold out for Him.

You have been redeemed from destruction; you have been crowned and made a king and priest to Him. Therefore, live this way from now on. He has so much more to offer you
