Go and sin no more

"And Jesus said to her, 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.' "  John 8:11 NKJV

In John 8:3-12, we read about a woman who had been caught in adultery and the Pharisees, knowing this was a capital offence, punished by stoning to death, brought her to Jesus to see what His opinion of this was. This was really a trap. If Jesus had said, 'Stone her,' they would have said He was not as caring, as He preached. If He were to say, 'Let her go,' He would be going against Jewish Law. A diabolical position to be in.

They informed Jesus that she had been caught in the very act of adultery. Jewish Law was very strict on this matter. The act had to be witnessed by at least two other people. They were to be precise about what they saw and they would have had to have seen physical movements related to sex in order to make the charge stand. And it was almost a rare occurrence for this to happen. Execution therefore, especially in Jesus' time, rarely took place.

Where was the man? It takes two to commit adultery and he would have been just as guilty. However, he was nowhere to be seen. This really appeared to be a set up and the Pharisees probably had something against the woman to bring this charge.

Jesus stooped down, almost beside the woman and wrote in the dust. Over the years, there has been many deliberations about what He was doing - was He stalling for time? Was He wondering how to handle this situation? The questions have been many. It may have been that He was stooping down to be at her level and offering her non-threatening reassurance. Whatever, He finally said to the Pharisees, 'He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone first.' (verse 7). This cleared the place. The Pharisees knew they were sinners; they knew that they had been born into sin and this pricked their conscience. When they had left, Jesus spoke to the woman, 'Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you? She replied that no one had condemned her. Jesus replied, 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.'

This shows the heart of Jesus. This woman, even though what she had done was wrong, had been publicly humiliated and accused, alone. Jesus is a fair God and, though He doesn't condone sin, He is against corrupt accusations against us. This woman had suffered a shock, but she had met and witnessed the love of God. She would never be the same again and it is very doubtful that she ever committed adultery again. She had learned her lesson.

There are always lessons to be learned. Jesus is patience and kind, loving and faithful. However, He will not tolerate hypocrisy. We're either for Him or against Him. We cannot continue to pretend to live for Jesus and do things sinful in secret, thinking, 'no one will know.' Someone will know and His Name is Jesus. It really is time to stand up and be counted. It really is time to stop living two lives. We're either with Jesus or against Him. We cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24)

I would love to hear from you.   dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

Integrity

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

‘Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, My strength and My Redeemer’.  Psalm 19:14 NKJV

Our words and thoughts are extremely important. Choosing what we say, how we say it and what we think is what is required to fit the  criteria for integrity. It is steadfastly sticking to the moral code; having the determination that whatever happens, we're going to be honest and full of wholeness.
Things that appear so simple can let us down. If we work in an office type environment, getting a new pen and pad from the stationery cabinet and then taking it home with us for personal use, is not far off stealing. Think about it. If we're using the pen and paper for work and take it home to carry on with the work, that is fine. However, using it to put a shopping list on it or a to do list, is not the right thing to do. Splitting hairs? I don't think so. Stealing is stealing and when I worked in an office, I must hold my hands up to this crime.

God sees all we do and hears all we say and also, knows every thought. When we 'eye up' the opposite sex and feel lust towards that person, He knows. We can't hide it from Him. He knows all. He longs for us to have wholesome thoughts and speak wholesome words but, boy, how difficult this can be at times. It takes dedication and hard work to meet this challenge, and even then we have to watch ourselves. He knows how tough it can be for us. He was in this world and walked around noticing the temptations that were around. However, He never fell for it. Do you?

We're not perfect. This is why the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 1:6, 'being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you, will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.' He knows our weaknesses. That doesn't mean we can do, say and think anything that we want to and we'll get away with it. Far from it. If we do this, we will still have to confess our sin to Him each day. However, what it does mean, 'don't beat yourself up when you blow it.' Try to better this next time. We have a Saviour who is our friend. However, He will not let us get away with things. He can be strict - very strict; and He means business. But He sympathises with our weakness and enjoys our efforts to break free from things that let us down.
The final word? Don't give up - Look up.

I'd love to hear from you.  If this has spoke to you  dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

Jesus - her only hope Part 2

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well."    Mark 5 25-34 NKJV

Let's take a closer look at this lady with the flow of blood. She had suffered for 12 years. There had been no relief from this sickness. We know how we feel when ailments go on for a few weeks, but 12 years is a long time, especially when she had spent all of her money putting her hope in many doctors, who had not helped at all.

She had lost everything. If she had been married with children - which she may have been, she would have been forced to move out and probably have no more to do with them. How painful is that? She must have been so lonely and desperate. How did she manage for money? She wouldn't have been able to work and there was no DSS to help her out. It must have been a very miserable existence.
Everywhere she went, she would have been rejected - cast out and treated like a leper. There must have been times when she felt like giving up and ending it all. She literally had no future at all.

Where do we go when we get this low? When there's nothing and no one left? This is how she would be feeling. And yet, something burned within her. There was a light flickering, faintly at first, but it was there. It was burning within her. Something like that is burning within you too, isn't it? The light is beginning to burn brighter, little by little. That special something to hang on to -  to rely upon. His name is Jesus.

For this lady, He was the only answer and yet, so many people had let her down in her life. What if He did. She didn't know if she could trust Him. What if she went to Him and He told the authorities about her. She could be stoned by the crowd, who would be horrified because of her state of health. And yet, something told her, He was different. He wouldn't let her down - at all.

It was a frightening moment when she approached Him from behind and touched the hem of His garment. However, she received love, empathy, healing and care from this man called Jesus. He gave her back her dignity; her very existence. And He can you too.

There is a light flickering in you at this moment. Life has not been kind to you and you're hurting. You can do nothing about what you're going through. But Jesus can. Do you trust Him; I mean, really trust Him. Trust Him enough to approach Him and tell Him all about what you're going through.

Deep down, you know that He's interested. Approach Him now. He's waiting. Give Him your burden, your fear and reach out and touch Him.

'Lord, I can do nothin about what is happening to me right now, but I know You can. Please help me. Please change this situation.................................. I need You Lord. Amen .

I would love to hear from you.    dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

Jesus - her only hope!

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well."    Mark 5 25-34 NKJV

This dear lady had been living with a flow of blood for 12 years. She had spent all she had on doctors who had charged her exorbitant prices but had been unable to help her in any way. Therefore, she was classed as an outcast. In Jewish thought, a person such as this, were ceremonially and socially unclean. She was ostracised and if she had been living with her family, would have been made to leave them and the house because it was felt, whoever and whatever she touched, would be unclean too. She had no one and nothing left.
She had heard of Jesus and knew He was around the area. But what could she do? She couldn't go out in the crowds and go to Him because of her condition. However, she realised that Jesus was her only hope. She had a determination to see Him and the faith too.
She decided to secretly go into the crowd and approach Him from behind. When He was just in front of her, she reached out and touched His garment. She was healed immediately.  This lady, even though she was suffering terribly herself, but was not wallowing in her own pity and selfishness. She considered that if she touched Jesus, she would be making Him unclean too. This is why she touched His garment instead.
Jesus knew that she was there; He knew that power had gone out of Him and turning around, He asked who had touched Him. Of course He knew it was this lady but He didn't want to embarrass her. He wanted her to stand up, be honest and receive her healing totally. Timidly, she admitted it was her, falling on her knees. She told Him everything. Jesus healed her and gave her back her dignity and her life. She would never be the same again.

What would have impressed Jesus would have been her honest, selfless approach towards Him. She was thinking of Him, not herself. She didn't want Him to be ceremonially and socially unclean like. She put Him first.
Probably, you may be in an awful position - whatever it is. Like this lady, Jesus may be your only hope; you may have lost everything too. Look at how she handled things. She knew she was unclean but that didn't stop her. She knew she might never get the chance again. With faith and determination she stood up and went to Jesus - the only one left who could help her and who wouldn't expect any payment either.

We have to be proactive. We have to admit we need Jesus. We have to call out to Him, approach Him and trust Him. This lady didn't know if Jesus would have reported her to the authorities. She had to trust Him, she had to take the chance; and her faith and trust were rewarded.

Do you need to go out into the crowd and find Jesus? Do you need to approach Him and tell Him your heart? Probably, this may be your day, if you do!

I would love to hear from you.  dailylifewithjesus@proton.com

Keep going, you're doing ok

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."  1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV

It's not easy when you're working flat out and you feel that your work is not appreciated. It makes some people pack in and move on. That can be from jobs, marriages even churches. Everyone likes to be appreciated. Sadly, it doesn't always happen.

Jesus talked about a man who built his house upon a rock. (Matthew 7:24-29) No matter what was thrown against this house, it kept standing. It refused to fall. That is the formula, building on our rock - Jesus. You'll never please everybody, sometimes, no one at all. Jesus is pleased though.

Some days can be tedious, whether out at work, where the boss is never satisfied and treats you like a drudge. Or at home, where you feel that you're just taken for granted. Sometimes at church, we can do all we can, whenever we're asked and yet, we feel it goes un-noticed. Sometimes it would be easier to throw the towel in and leave.

However, don't do that. You may be a leader in a church and it seems like you work almost 36 hours a day, at times, but some people will still complain and be dis-satisfied with the changes you have made. You may be a sales person and whatever you sell, the target keeps going up so that it seems unreachable. At home, you may feel like the doormat; everyone moans about their problems but no one gives you the time to air your worries.

Hey, don't give up. Keep going. God wants you to be immovable, this means you don't run away - ever. You keep right on going, abounding in all you do. God will bring a happier resolution to this issue if you ask Him to. He sees all and as long as He sees your hard work and faithfulness, He won't let you down.
Just for now though, put your armour on (Ephesians 6:14-18), especially the shield of faith. Arrows are flying around at present and these are sent by the wicked one and meant to wound you and to get you to think negatively. Don't let them pierce your heart. Just be faithful and immovable in all you do and God will bring about some kind of change to your environment.
Build upon the rock and you won't sink!

I would love to hear from you.  dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

God can repair the damage

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"Why are you downcast, O my soul; Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, My Saviour and My God. "  Psalm 42:5 NIV

Things may not be going too well just lately; marital problems; relationships; sickness; neighbour problems; problems with Finances or employment. The list may be endless. Sometimes the last thing we want to hear is when a Christian says, 'I'll pray for you,' and then walks away to get on with their day.
Sometimes we don't wish to talk about what is troubling us but when we do, we need someone who will empathise with us and help us see if there is a way through the hurt of it all. Do you know someone that you can trust to help you with this?

What are you struggling with right now? Have you tried laying it before God? He should be our first port of call. Yet, sometimes when we do this, we get nothing, It can seem as if even God is not listening. He is, but He's different to us and He handles things in a more higher way:

'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways, My ways, says the LORD. For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.' Isaiah 55:8-9 NKJV.

The reason God doesn't answer straightaway is that he is a deep thinker. He has our heart in His hands and He wants to bring healing to the damage that has been done to you. However, sometimes things take a little longer to put into place, alternatively, sometimes they're much quicker. God is not ignoring you. He is providing a way through but he is a great planner and wants everything in place, because He loves you.

Therefore, if you are waiting for God to help, He has heard you calling to Him, there is no need to fret. He is in control and will deliver. Is there something you must do first, though? Are you bearing a grudge against someone; judging and accusing the one who has hurt you. This is understandable, but stop! This will get you nowhere and God cannot perform while this is happening. Put your hope in the only one who really cares and loves you - Jesus. He cares so much and he is only a prayer away.
Lets go to the throne right now:

'Lord Jesus, I really don't know what to do. I am hurt and mixed up about things. My world is falling apart because of it all. Please come and help me. You're my hope and my eyes are upon You right now.. Amen

I would really love to hear from you.  dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

P.P.P.

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"It is better for me to die than to live". Jonah 4:8. NKJV

Jonah has been called the pouting prophet and just by reading the four chapters about him, it's not hard to see why. After Jonah had finally obeyed God and gone to Nineveh to declare God's Word to them, he went outside of the great city and sulked and threw a major pity party because he felt God should have wiped them all out. When he didn't, Jonah wished death upon himself.

I've named today's reading, 'P.P.P. - Pity Party People.' We can be so like this at times; especially when somebody does us wrong and hurts us. We want God to sort them out. In fact, at times, we want to sort them out, forget we're a Christian for a day and give the person a jolly good sorting. We hold imaginary conversations with them and really believe that we are doing this. We see them in the street and try to avoid them. In church when they come to hug us, we pray that we'll be raptured before they even touch us.

We focus on something that hasn't even happened and hold an inquest at home, with our partner, trying to drag them into the equation and gain their support. When this fails, we feel sorry for ourselves, pout, slam doors and then hold the pity party with only ourselves invited.

We've all done it. At times, I've felt that could write a book about some people I've met and many of them Christians. I have dreamt about all I could put into this book, judging, blaming, exposing and calling them all of the names that I can think of. Yes, I could have written a best seller about them. That is, until I realised that God has considered writing one about me, which would be much fatter, full of everything that I have ever done and very costly to my walk with Him. I quickly repented.

God knows what we're like. He knows that it can be difficult at times. Let's face it, we're in a family - the family of God; and at times families can be very dysfunctional and troublesome. We have to give and take. Look how God is with us. How many times have we disappointed Him and angered Him but, because of Jesus, when we have repented, we have received a clean bill.

Is there someone at this moment who you're finding difficult to handle? Ask God to show you something nice about them. Ask God to show them something nice about you. It is a two-way thing you know. You may get on their nerves as much as they get on yours. Bend a little. Reach out to them. Give them a call and invite them out for coffee - if that's possible. Pray for them; try and show them the respect and love that Jesus shows you. That's what God expects. Don't be a P.P.P. any longer.

I'd love to hear from you.  dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

God knows your gifting

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men."    Proverbs 18:16

Do you know the gift that is within you? Do you think God knows of it? Of course he does, because He put it there. 'Then why don't God use it? I never get chosen to do anything.'

We all have certain gifts and talents that God placed within us and will use when we are ready - when we are in position to be used. At times, everyone wants to be the preacher or the pastor or the worship leader. Now that may be for you. However, perhaps the time is not right yet. God uses our gifts in the secular world too, you know. There are Christian doctors, social workers, office workers, politicians and even road sweepers who have gifting and are using this gifts for God.

The thing is, if God said He wanted to use you today; would you do it? Some would and many would go into a decline and hide away. I know, I've been there. Not everyone are called to be a preacher. Ushers are so important, as are the church car park attendant. Each have a role to play. Sometimes we have to humble ourselves and do the things we feel are below us before God will use us in the higher positions.

The thing is, if God has placed a certain gift within you, He will use it despite what anyone else says. Look at young David. He saw Goliath and looked around at Saul and his army and knew they were not going to retaliate. Therefore, he felt God showing him that it was what he should do. Saul tried to stop him and no doubt there were sniggers from family and the crowd when they saw this skinny little chap taking on this nine foot giant. It didn't stop him though. Why? Because he knew the time was right. He knew God had put him in this place to do this act and he went for it and claimed victory.

Now, God is not calling you to attack this kind of giant. However, what you will have to do, will appear so if you don't get in position - praying and listening to God. being humble and usable. Being ready as today may be the the day.

Your gift will become apparent to the right person at the right time. Stay cool until then. Keep praying God; refuse to get disgruntled and get ready. It may come sooner than you thought.

Insiders and Outsiders Part two

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"The next day, John saw Jesus coming towards Him and said, 'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29 NKJV

Yesterday we looked at the role of Outsiders.- - the Etic perspective. Today let's look at Insiders, who look at the outsiders. This is called the Emic perspective.
John the Baptist was an Insider. He knew Jesus, he was a practitioner and had the spiritual knowledge of who he was and what He was here for. Initially, he was talking to outsiders when he told John and Andrew about Him 'Behold. The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.' (John 1:29). They very quickly became insiders as they pursued Jesus and became His followers.

Basically, an insider is one who 'knows Jesus' The insider has gone into the Internal Frame of of Reference. They know who the  person is. They may not be able to explain it fully yet but they have inward knowledge. That is what it is like when you come to know Jesus as Your Lord and Saviour.
Outsiders cannot understand where an insider is coming from. They do not have that inner feeling - the Holy Spirit. Insiders know that when they come face to face with an outsider, it can be difficult to explain why they read the bible; go to church or speak freaky language about Jesus. Now the outsider may be searching for something that the insider has - Jesus. Alternatively, they may be curious about how a Christian reacts to things differently than the norm. I remember a mental health social worker who visited a Christian patient at home. When he returned to the office, he told me that she was very strange and he was quite concerned as she talked about her faith endlessly and had various bibles around the place. He felt that this was over the top. He may have been right. However, I happened to know this patient and knew that she was a Christian through and through but had hit a bad time and was depressed. The problem was, the other social worker, found it very difficult to accept what I told him and I got the feeling that he was concerned about my mental health too.

This can be a problem. When an outsider, especially a professional in a particular field, meets up with an insider - one who is living for Jesus; speaks in tongues; reads the bible and prays. Labels can be attached. Outsiders need to assess things more clearly when they are advised that a particular insider has a belief system that is different from theirs. The purpose of studying religion is to make the strange familiar, and the familiar strange. The truth is, that which is strange to the unbeliever, is familiar to the believer and vice versa. This is where misunderstandings happen.

Again it is down to the Christian individual (the insider) to get their faith over to the outsider, if it is necessary. The outsider cannot understand what is happening, especially if they go to a Charismatic church where people are laying all over the floor shouting out to Jesus. However, with patience and empathy, an insider can help the outsider to know what they're witnessing. Let's face it, you were once an outsider looking in. That is until the day Jesus invited you to 'Come and see.' Then you knew.
Before I became a Christian, I thought most Christian people were crazy people. Now I've joined them and I'm glad. The persecution, violence and insults that Christians suffer throughout the world are done by outsiders - people who do not understand our viewpoint.
I think God wants us to put them right, don't you?

Insiders and Outsiders

"The next day, John saw Jesus coming towards Him and said, 'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29 NKJV

In our study over the next two days, I would like to look at Christianity firstly in the eyes of the onlooker (the outsider) and then tomorrow, look at Christianity from the yourself (the insider). It sounds complicated but it isn't. What we will actually be doing is sitting on the streets as Jesus walks by and forming an outside opinion. Tomorrow it will be your opinion. This is a form of Anthropology and this data is from The Open University:

Anthropology is the scientific study of humans and human behavior and societies in the past and present.
The outsider view is the view from the outside: the perspective of the (theoretically) dispassionate observer whose observation does not influence the observed. This can be called the academic view. In the academic discipline of Religious Studies, it is sometimes called the etic perspective. The insider view is that of the practitioners, the people who are engaged in and more or less committed to the group or society in which they move. In Religious Studies, the view from the inside, the perspective of the practitioners, is called the emic perspective. This is a central distinction in the study of religion.

From an Etic perspective, we see here Jesus walking through Bethany and John the Baptist making a prophetic statement about Him to his own disciples. Think about the situation. Jesus was at the start of His ministry and already, He was beginning to stir up attention to Himself. In fact, so much so that John and Andrew later follow Him and along with Peter, Phillip and Nathanial, become His disciples. They are so attracted to Him that they just can't resist Him. We as Christians know that this is the wonderful drawing power of the Holy Spirit. They are the first of Jesus' disciples and will follow Him and be involved in all He does.

From a Etic perspective (outsiders) they are drawn to following Him. There is something that they see in Him that they have never seen or felt before. It is something they can't resist and they want it for themselves. They want to spend time with Him.

From this Etic perspective, what do people see in you. As non- Christians are observing your behaviour (and they do), what do they see. Are they drawn to you like these first disciples? Do they want what you have, even though they don't know what it is? As Christians, we have the calling by Jesus Himself to make disciples. (Matthew 28:16-20). He has commissioned us to do this. People will not know about Him if they're not told. Now we can preach to our friends, family, neighbours and workmates but we can do far better by initially letting them see Jesus through our actions. All Jesus had said to the two inquiring disciples who had asked Him where He was staying, was 'Come and see.' That is all. He had done no teaching, preaching or healing. Just answered their question and they were hooked.
The is the way God wants us to be with all we meet. People are fed up with being used, abused and totally ripped off by this world. They need people they can trust. People who will be there for them. Think for a moment. Is that you? Jesus thinks so.

It's a done deal

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser

"Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament. Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp; Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes; Praise him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with crashing cymbals; Let everything that has breath, Praise the Lord."  Psalm 150 NKJV

Anyone in a church setting, would now be shouting, 'Amen' which means 'Let it be,' alternatively, they may be shouting, 'Hallelujah' which means 'Praise the Lord.' Whatever they would say, they would be thanking and praising God.

However, we don't have to be in a church setting to do this. Praise can, and should, be in our lives 24/7 - anywhere we are and in anything that we're doing. Angels in Heaven may be praising God at this time, however, they cannot praise and thank God for what we can, and that is salvation. For all of us who are 'saved' - that means, we've asked Jesus to be our Lord and Saviour, it's a 'done deal'. Jesus died for us, in our place. He took our sins upon Himself as if He had committed them Himself and gave us freedom, a new life. That is salvation and the angels cannot have this because they're already there with Jesus. For us who have Jesus in our hearts, we have that to look forward to. We have salvation now but the full reality of it will not happen until we see Jesus face to face in Heaven.

Until that day, we have everything to live for and in everything, we need to praise and thank God. Look at the end of this Psalm, 'Let everything that has breath, Praise the Lord.' Have you got breath? Of course you have. Then Praise the Lord with it. We may have problems but Praise him. Not for the problems because He didn't give them to you. No, Praise Him as you move through the problems. We may be sick. Then Praise Him through the sickness. We may be unhappy; then Praise Him through this unhappiness. There may be a host of different things that hurt, hinder and take your joy away. However, stand and Praise Him.

As we do this, something wonderful happens. God meets us and fills us with he joy and strength to take on whatever we have to face throughout the day. Praise lifts our sorrows. The devil cannot stand the sound of Praise. He'll do everything he can to prevent you doing this. Why? Because you are in direct contact with God and the devil knows that you're a threat to him when you're this way. So he'll try and stop you. Don't let Him. Stand tall and sing and Praise God. Turn up the Praise music; start to laugh, dance, sing and clap your way though the heartaches and problems you may be going through. God loves you. Do you hear me? GOD LOVES YOU! You have breath, then use it to praise your friend, Jesus. He loves to receive this type of thing from you. He really can't get enough of you. It's done deal.

In the wrong place

"It happened in the spring of the year; at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman."
                                                                                                            2 Samuel 11:1 - 3 NKJV

Being in the wrong place, at the wrong time can cause all sorts of problems for us. David here, should have been out with his men. However, for some reason he had decided to stay at home. When we are not in the right place - the place we should be - things can happen that lead us astray. Here, David was probably bored, not knowing what to do with himself, therefore strolled about the property just glancing around. His eyes caught this beautiful woman and as he continued to look at her, it was rather like when Eve gazed at the fruit on the tree. It beckoned her, it created a temptation, which in turn created a desire to have it. This is what happened to King David. As he looked at this woman, temptation and then desire caught hold of him, and he sent for her. Adultery was formed.

This is what James was warning about in James 1: 14-15, 'But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin when it is full-grown, brings forth death.'

We must realise that temptation is around every corner and we have to be on guard 24/7. Idleness and carelessness, lack of wisdom and feeding our minds with the wrong things, can cause us to stumble. Put on the armour of God and don't take it off (Ephesians 6:14-18)
Be warned that a lustful gaze will often lead to lustful thoughts and can result in immoral actions. The internet can be a temptation for some when we have open access to all types of pornography - heterosexual and homosexual. The internet caters for all tastes and many fall for its temptations. Be careful how you use it. Your mind can be in the wrong place and that temptation can create desires that lead us away to immoral gratification.

Do Christian men and women involve themselves this way? You bet they do. Some are so hooked with this behaviour that they cannot stop themselves. And let's face it, it is not an issue that can be brought up at a prayer meeting.
The thing is, left un-challenged, this type of behaviour can ruin a person's life, marriage and ministry. If this is you, don't you think it's time you dealt with it? Who is the person that you could share this with; someone who would listen, pray for you and be totally confidential. There must be someone. Ask God to show you. Don't continue to be in the wrong place. Take a turn for the better and seek help. It will change your life.

Forgiveness

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser.

"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that Your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will Your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses."     Mark 11:25 - 26 NKJV

These are very strong and powerful words. God says that as we confess our sins to Him, He will forgive us, but only if we forgive other people that have sinned against us. If we don't, we will not be forgiven either. God also says in Jeremiah 31:34, 'For I will forgive their iniquity and their sin I will remember no more.' Now that is amazing but makes it doubly difficult for us to carry out. Let me explain:

Some person comes along and for one reason or another, wounds us deeply. This may be over a period of time, a situation where they betray us all of a sudden. We are expected to forgive them - not harbour a grudge. It's our choice but from the scripture above, we know we really have no choice at all. We're either a Christian who believes and lives the Word, or not. However, we agree to forgive them, whether they've asked for this or not. But if we don't deal with this internally, it can begin to fester whenever we see them or think about them. It can get so bad that we can hope that they pay for what they've done to us. It becomes on a par with hatred.

When we're living in such a way, the hurt of what someone has done to us can completely take over our lives and it begins to affect our health and our attitudes towards people who still talk and like the person who has offended us deeply. We may even begin to gossip about them, telling whoever will listen, how hurt you have been by this person; what they have done and how they appear to have gotten away with their 'crime' against us.

As it gets this far, we really need to stop and look at ourselves. How can the Holy Spirit dwell within us - a vessel that is acting in such a way towards a brother or sister in the Lord. The Holy Spirit will never leaves us, but as we offend and hurt Him, it's almost like the anointing lifts off us and we start floundering around, moaning, groaning and feeling so sorry for ourselves. 'Well you don't know what he or she did to me?' That's very true, but I do know what God's Word says, and He tells us to forgive. He also tells us, 'Vengeance is mine. I will repay.' (Roman 12:19). When someone has done wrong to us, we forgive them, hand it over to Jesus and it becomes His problem. He will handle it in His way and in His time. Forget about it.

I know it's easer said than done to 'forgive and forget.' However, it really is the only way to go if we want to walk with Jesus. The people did so many bad things to Him, but He handled it all. "Yes, but He was God." Yes, that is true, but He was also a human being, that bled the way we do, at the time. He knows how hurtful things can be and He knows how much you have been hurt too. Why not spend a little time with Him today and let Him wipe your tears, smooth out the wrinkles of your heart and build you up again. It'll be like a spa day as He refreshes every part of your body and mind and makes you feel brand new again.

Unity - Joined together

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser.

"Now I plead with you brethren, by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement."  1 Corinthians 1:10 NKJV

Unity. The old saying, 'United we stand, divided we fall.' There's a lot of truth in these words. The church at Corinth was in threat of division because there were contentions between the church members. Not a lot has changed. All over the world, church members allow contentions to split churches and bring about disunity.. This should not be. The Apostle Paul, was urging the people of Corinth, to get it together and stop arguing and bickering with each other over who was in charge of the church.

One thing the devil cannot stand is unity. He will do all he can to bring about division by using people to spread lies and gossip throughout the church. If he can cause people to be jealous over someones ministry within the church, he will. He leads people to be jealous and envious of what people do and how they are favoured above them. The 'it's not fair,' attitude.

Unity is brought about by The Holy Spirit. The early church at Jerusalem demonstrated this by sharing together and living with each other in harmony. In other words, in 'Fellowship,' (Acts 2:40-42) The Greek word for Fellowship is KOINONIA, which means, Sharing, unity, close association, partnership and communion. This is brought about by the Holy Spirit as people respond and join together in unity. This type of fellowship, cements the believers to the Lord and to each other. A church that is practicing this type of fellowship, is a church that is going somewhere. It is a church that was very much like the early church, the church where thousands of people were saved and couldn't wait to worship God and be together.

There is no perfect church. You'll never find one, for the simple reason that none of us are perfect. We all have moods and things that irritate others. We all have problems and think we're the only one who is going through such stuff as this. We all are tempted to sin. However, when we are joined to each other with Jesus as the head, we're less likely to act in this way because we have people beside us who know what we're going through and support and love us.

Fantasy? Not at all. It's the way Jesus wants us to be. He wants us to put up with people's oddities. If they don't measure up to our expectations and standards, they more than likely measure up to Jesus' expectations.

So, let us all pray and move towards unity. Let's face it, when we get to Heaven (if we make it) we will have to live with each other together, forever. If you don't like a particular person in your church at this moment, pray for them, ask God to help you see something nice about them and let Him love them through you. After all, we'll be together a long time.

Marital Teamwork

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser.

"Wives be submissive to your husbands - Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife as to the weaker vessel ..." 1 Peter 3:1 - 7 NKJV

God's idea of marriage is teamwork. One member of the marriage is not greater than the other. Verse 1says that the wife should be submissive to her husband. However, this doesn't mean that she should be a doormat, doing everything within the household. The husband is not the boss. He may, in God's eyes be the head of the wife (Ephesians 5:23), but that doesn't mean he should rule the home with an iron rod. Respect, honour and gentleness should be the way the husband treats his wife. He is responsible for her spiritual care and the provider to the home. Although in this modern age, both partners work, God still places the husband in the role of provision, so wherever possible, he is expected to work to provide for his family.

Verse 7 mentions the wife being the weaker vessel. This is not a derogatory term. God does not view the wife as weak in spirit or soul. Far from it. What it does mean is that the husband should treat the wife as a precious jewel that could so easily break if not treated properly. The wife should receive, kindness, courtesy and gentleness from her husband. She should never be degraded in the marriage, or treated as a plaything or a drudge or even an after-thought. On the other side of the coin, the wife should show love and honour to her husband. We are in a team here. It should never one-sided.

The husband should be consistent in his spirituality within the home; outside the home and towards his wife and family. Husbands and wives cannot be right with God if they're at loggerheads with each other. Other people may not pick up on this but God sees all. The husband and wife team are both heirs together. If their relationship is not exalting Christ or building each other up, their prayers will be hindered and this is where problems can really begin. The devil loves to get in and drive a wedge between marital partners. Don't let Him. Do things God's way. Your future happiness, life and walk with God depend on this.

He'll never let you down

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser.

"For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' So we may boldly say, 'The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?' " Hebrews 13:5-6 NKJV

Has there ever been a time when God has let you down? If you feel He has, are you sure that it was Him that let you down? God gets the blame for a lot of things, when generally, it's just life events that happen. They hurt; we feel alone and let down, angry and forgotten. However, God has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' No matter where you go or what you do, He'll never desert you. He's always there, longing to help.

You may be going through a really bad time at this present moment. One in which you can't even feel God at all. But, He is there. Think back to a time when you were in a situation that you felt you could never get out of; an impossible event. But you made it. Are you sure that wasn't God helping you; rescuing you. He has done that so much in my life, I can assure you.
Some days, life seems virtually impossible to work through. You may be going through one of these times right now. Look at this scripture. Along with saying that He will never leave or forsake us, He lets us know that:

* HE IS OUR HELPER. He will provide a way through this present situation for you. There may not seem a way through it, but be reassured, God will find a way.
* THERE'S NO NEED TO FEAR. God understands what is happening in your life and is interested enough to say, 'Do not fear.' He is in control, if you put Him there. If you don't, you'll have to sort a way through alone; but why do that when the Master Resolver is waiting for you to invite him to help.

The message for you today is, Do Not Fear. God will sort it out for you if you give it to Him. It'll be ok. Everything will be alright. If the worst comes to the worst, God will still be beside you. Some things are inevitable, but He'll help you through it all. You're not alone.

Don't carry this alone. God cares and wants to help. Give it to Him, pray, listen and try not to worry.

Thankfulness

If you're reading this in an email, scroll down to the very last link and click the link to view in your browser.

"Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms."
                                                                                                       Psalm 95:2 NKJV

Think about this scripture and meditate on it. There is always something to be thankful for, even when things are not as they should be. You may be going through a difficult time right now; but stop for a moment, through this time there is a space for you to say, 'I'm grateful and thankful for this.' This was why the Psalmist wrote Psalm 95. 'He said, 'Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms.' Let's take a closer look at what he says:
He said to:

COME If you don't go to where you're asked to go to, you'll remain where you are. Does that make sense. You're really going nowhere. However, he said to 'Come'. We have to come before God and into His presence. If we make no effort, very little will happen. God won't force this matter. We're told to come and as we do, we enter His wonderful presence, where we can lay all of our worries and thoughts down and just worship the one who matters most.
THANKSGIVING. As we enter into God's presence it's almost like He wraps His arms around us and bathes the wounds of life, those hurtful issues, those dreadful worries the things that give us sleepless nights and are at the back of our minds, constantly. God is also thankful to us as we do so. It's not a one-way thing, God loves our presence and is grateful when we seek Him out and spend precious time with Him.
Just stop and think for a moment and think of all the things that you are grateful for and thank Him. For one thing, our lives. Without that, we would not exist. Our partners. If we still have them with us, that is a reason to be thankful. If they've departed to be with the Lord, perhaps, what lovely memories can be present in our minds. As I mentioned before, there is always something to be thankful for, even through the darkest of times.
What about our children? There may be hard times but they're a constant point of joy to us. Then there's our health, our finances, our homes, clothing, endless nice things that we have acquired. There's many other things too. Probably for some, there may be the loss of someone; the worry of a sickness that is terminal, a broken relationship. It's very hurtful, but probably there is something in this hurt that you can find just to be thankful.
SHOUTING JOYFULLY. Joy is a strength (Nehemiah 8:10.) There is something about singing and shouting loudly as you do it, that is liberating. Go to a concert of your favourite band and as you sing with them, you'll get the idea of what I mean. It is exhilarating. Within us, there can be so much pent up pressure that a release is needed. Rather like a fizzy drink. If you keep the top on and shake it, fizz and bubbles jiggle around. However, when you take the lid off, the drink spurts out like a spray from a cannon. That is what happens with us as we shout and praise and thank God.

He has done so much for us and is not about to stop. Get on your knees and say thank you for ...................................... Thank you Lord. I'm so grateful.

I would love to hear from you. dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

You've enough on your plate

If you're reading this via an email, scroll down to the very last link, click it and view in your browser.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow ,for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble"  Matthew 6:34 NKJV

Worry and fear are killers. They kill faith for one thing. Fear is the exact opposite to faith. If fear is hanging around in your life, it gives way to worry and faith goes out the window. Worry and fear also injure our health and bring on all sorts of medical issues.

At times, our load for today is so large that we physically don't know how we're going to get through it all. Do you feel like that? It may be your job or it may be the busy work load at home. It can be stressful unless we take control of it.
I remember one time when I was a social worker in a very busy city office. I had been on leave for just over two weeks and the night before returning to work, I was fretting about all the work that would be in my tray at work. The life of a social worker is busy and, unless there's an emergency in your case load, the work stays in your tray until your return. That can be a nightmare.
So I lay in bed worrying about all I had to do and God took me into  dream, I was awake but only aware of Him leading me into my office and picking up my work tray. 'My what a lot of work we have,' He said. He then led me to my desk and He helped me get through it all. When I did go to work the following morning, the tray was full, as expected, but there was nothing really pressing and I cleared it all up within an hour. Amazing, but I'd fretted for nothing and I learned that God is in control, if we let Him be.

In Proverbs 16:3, it says, 'Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.' The word 'Commit', gives the picture of a camel, with a heavy load on its back. When it comes to remove this load, it kneels down and rolls over onto its side, depositing the load on the ground. What a lovely picture of rolling our many worries and cares over to God.

We need to learn from this picture. God does not want any of us stricken with worry and care; loaded down with problems that are causing us all kind of upset. Instead, He wants us to roll them over to Him. He is capable and He is interested and He is willing to help. However, He's a gentleman and waits for us to allow Him into the situation. He doesn't usually burst in of His own accord. He can do, but usually He wants us to call to Him.

Why don't you try this today? You cannot take on worries from tomorrow. You can only Cope with what you have today. Give it to God, NOW!

I would love to hear from you. dailylifewithjesus@protonmail.com

Roll it over to the Lord
