"Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? 2The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed one. 3“Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.” 4But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. 5Then in anger he rebukes them, terrifying them with his fierce fury. 6For the Lord declares, “I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.” Psalm 2:1-6 NLT
All over the world there is unrest. People scheming to get more power; wars and threats of war; murders, stabbings, governments making things difficult for people to live their lives in peace. The verses above are so apt for today - anger, greed, bully tactics, rebellion, disrespect, lowered standards and a world society where God is ridiculed and left out of the planning.
How does God feel about all of this? He laughs at their attempts to changes things and avoid Him by taking over His creation. He rebukes them and scoffs at them, His fury is ignited and He has a major plan set in place: 'I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, on my holy mountain' and this is Jesus, King of kings, Lord of lords, our Mighty One. World leaders may plot and scheme threatening wars and dismissing starving people, especially young children who desperately require help. But, He will have the victory in the end.
Wherever we go, we always find a bully in place. They cause intimidation, fear and hurt by their actions. You may have met them at school or, your first work place. You may have contact with one now. Jesus knows about this, so call on Him. Remember, 'For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” Romans 10:13. Just call on Him and ask Him for help; He will! As much as an individual can be a bully, so can some world leaders. Many corrupt ones have now gone to judgement but, there are many more who are still in power. The problem is, they just refuse to accept Jesus; many have their own faith or no faith at all and depend on themselves to rule their state.
This will all end one day soon, and it may be sooner than we think. God sees all that happens and judgement will come. God has placed His chosen King and He is on the throne at the righthand side of God. Soon, that throne will be empty as God gives the order for Jesus to come for His people. But until that time, pray for peace and governments to find their rightful leader - Jesus Christ. And also pray for the many who are suffering at this time of uncertainty. Change will come; may it not tarry.
