"There is none like You"

"Therefore You are great, O Lord God. For there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears".   2 Samuel 7:22   NKJV

Lenny LeBlanc wrote this song in the 90's:

'There is none like You, no one else can touch my heart like You do. I could search for all eternity long and find, there is none like You.'    Copyright 1991 Lenny LeBlanc

And it is true, we could search for ever and find no one like God - Almighty God. This is what King David was saying when he remembered his conquests, especially the greatest which was between him and a 9' 6" giant called Goliath. He was an intimidating warrior who was daring the Israelites to come out and fight him. But no one was brave enough. And then, along came David, small and skinny and nothing like anyone would think could take on a mouse, let alone this giant. But David had killed bear and lion in his young life and he knew, with God on his side, he could accomplish this:

'Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.  46This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you' 1 Samuel 17:45-46. And he did just that with one smooth stone fired from his sling.

This is why David could declare that there was none like God. Now let's get this right. Many religions have a god and they worship and pray to him and yet, this god is dead or a figment of their imagination. Here, we are referring to Jehovah, Almighty God and He is alive. The Trinity Is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit - three persons but all fully God in their own right. And they are all alive.

So as David knew his God, so do we if we have asked Jesus into our Life as Lord and Saviour. Therefore, you and I can adopt the saying with confidence that 'There is none like you'. He is with us every step of our life (don't forget the He is). He is Lord, He is our Saviour and He is our friend. David could confidently declare this. 

When you grasp this properly, there is no need to ever be afraid at all. We can declare this to Jesus every day 'There is none like You'. People the world over search for that special something. They think they can find it in drugs, booze, sex and wild living but, that is all a lie and we know who feeds lies to people. 

Throughout this day, try and reflect on all of this. 'There is none like you' and He is your friend for eternity. If you involve Him, He is with you whatever you do and wherever you go.
