Nothing to fear - Jesus is here

"Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.  26And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.  30But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”  32And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased".       Matthew 14:25-32   NKJV

Have you ever sat and thought about how amazing this piece of scripture is? There were crashing waves all around the disciples as they sailed in their boat. The waves were so enormous that they felt they would perish. It must have been a frightening time for them! Unexpectedly, Jesus turned up walking on the water. This made the disciples even more scared as they looked at what they felt was a ghost. It was no ghost though, it was Jesus turning up at the right moment. During this panicky moment, the disciples must have called out to God in their fear. Jesus heard them as He was on the mountain praying and, immediately He went to them.

This is so encouraging and proves that our prayers are never wasted. I'm not sure if the prayers are placed on a sliding scale, putting the urgent ones first and the not so urgent
on a waiting time. This would explain how sometimes we have to wait for an answer and other times we receive instant answers. (This is only a thought, in no way do I feel that this is actually scriptural - just thinking out loud).

One thing Jesus demonstrated that very early morning, was His divine authority over the world that He created. He is totally in control of everything. Also, check out His encouraging words: “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” It was like He was saying, 'There is no need to be frightened; I am here with you' and really, this is the way that He wants us to be. There really is no need to be afraid of anything when Jesus is with you.

Some of you right now, may have an important hospital appointment to go to soon and, you are worrying about what you should say, what will I hear from the doctor, what is going to happen to me? You may have a job interview this week and you're trying to guess what questions you will be asked and if you're good enough for this task if you get it. Most days, we all face questions and decisions and we just don't know what to say. Well, taking Jesus with you is the No1 priority and next, not rushing in like a bull in a china shop, ruining everything.
God is in charge and if you involve Him, He will not let you down. We've just seen that He is a water-walker but, His power is much more than that. He can do anything. That day on the water, Peter wanted to walk on the water too, Jesus told Him to 'Come'. And Peter did and while He looked at Jesus, all was well. But when he looked at the waves around him, fear entered his world and he sank. But notice this, he shouted to Jesus to help him and, straightaway, Jesus did.

There should be no fear when we are walking with Jesus, but if we try to go it alone, we take the risk that we are going to sink. It is far better to allow Jesus' presence to be with you

If you don't know Jesus or, have fallen away, why not say this prayer right now

Lord Jesus, I have sinned. I ask you to forgive me and be my Lord and Saviour. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Spirit and give me a brand new start today. In Jesus' Name. Amen
