The Virtuous Wife

"My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away. 11For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. 12The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. 13The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell.
Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!"     Song of Solomon 2:10-14   NKJV

Here in the UK we've had weeks of bad weather - storms, heavy, practically non-stop rain, flooding and a lot of misery where people's homes have been ruined. And there doesn't appear to be any let up in it either. In fact, weather professionals are now predicting freezing conditions and heavy snow soon. But at least, we have weather, we'd be lost without it 😄

One day soon, rather like the beloved says here, 'For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone'. The beloved is desperate to see this young lady and has been running and leaping over mountain tops in a bid to get to where she is. It is a wonderful vision of marriage, one in which many dream of.
In a lot of marriages today, the husband has to be aware of all that his wife does to make his home peaceful and loving. There are many chores such as washing clothes, ironing, cleaning house, cooking, shopping and many other things that crop up all the time; and we haven't even mentioned having children, coping with bringing them up, teaching them, taking them to school etc etc.

Most 'Today's men', are pretty good at helping out within the home when they are available. Sadly, some don't and still act as if they are in the 40's & 50's, where sociologically, the man went to work while the woman had children and then did everything else, without complaint. Today, some men don't have jobs but they still act this way. Husband, you are supposed to be the spring to your wife's winter, if not you can't complain if things don't sail peacefully throughout the home. Read this lengthy scripture prayerfully:

"Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.11The heart of her husband safely trusts her So he will have no lack of gain. 12She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. 13She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands.14She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar. 15She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants. 16She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard. 17She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms. 18She perceives that her merchandise is good And her lamp does not go out by night. 19She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. 20She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. 21She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet. 22She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. 24She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants. 25Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. 26She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. 27She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. 28Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: 29“Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” 30Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. 31Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates".

This is The Virtuous Wife (Proverbs 31:10-31). So husbands, if you want a summer wife who consistently bears good fruit, don't bring home winter weather. It's all down to you.

If you don't know Jesus or, have fallen away, why not say this prayer right now

Lord Jesus, I have sinned. I ask you to forgive me and be my Lord and Saviour. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Spirit and give me a brand new start today. In Jesus' Name. Amen
