"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that You Father in Heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will Your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:25-26. NKJV
When someone hurts us, we must forgive them. If someone says bad things about us and injures our reputation, we must forgive them. What about when people lie about us and falsely accuse us, what should we do then? Forgive them. Of course, this is if we are a Christian. In the secular world, people will repay the person in a whole different manner, even involving court cases and personal vendettas. But as a Christian, we must forgive them; otherwise we won't be forgiven by God, what we have done wrong.
It's difficult isn't it? Especially when we want to go up to someone and rip their head off. This however, is taking things into our own hands. God wants us to forgive them,
then He will handle things His way. God's Word says, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay', says the Lord.'
And believe me, He will repay them, but possibly not straightaway and not in the way we would expect Him to. After all, He loves them too. Now that is hard to handle when these people have done what they have to hurt us. It's hard, but we need to trust Him. He will repay them at some stage.
Sometimes, people hurt us because they're jealous of us; of what we have; what we do and how successful we may be. So what should we do about this. We do have to do something. We need to forgive them and - wait for it - pray for them, in fact bless them. It sounds like God has a sense of humour, but doing this is very worth it in the long run. We will be the one who is blessed by forgiving and praying for the person who has done us wrong.
So, we should not blast them out of the place. We should not even confront them; unless this is going to be a viable option. The trouble is, they may deny it and then an argument can begin and this can make it even worse, unless of course, you have concrete proof, but that can be dodgy too. It is far better to leave it with God and forgive and pray for them. He is far more experienced than we will ever be.
Let us be Holy Spirit led and not head led. Let us be open to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to guide the way through this problem. The blessing will then come.

Go Forward - take that step

"Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" Mark 4:40. NKJV
Yesterday we looked at rare monkeys in the rain forest. Today, let us look at the African Impala. The impala is an incredibly, agile animal and can jump around 12 feet high and about the same distance all around. Therefore, when a leopard or other threatening creature attacks it, by using this skill it can sometimes survive. However, if someone were to capture the impala and place it in an enclosure with a metre high fence around, it would go nowhere. There would be no need to tie it up, it would remain in the enclosure. Why? Because, it is such a tiny little animal and wouldn't be able to see all around, over the fence. There may be a predator out there. So, through its fear, it would stay in the realms of safety, its comfort zone.
Does this sound familiar? Jesus said to His disciples during the wind and the waves escapade, 'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?' They had been with Jesus and seen Him do the most amazing things. He had taught them, and yet, They were petrified of the sea.
Faith and fear cannot reign in the heart at the same time. They are opposites and will repel each other. Fear is looking at the problems - the circumstances. Faith is looking at Jesus. Faith is taking Jesus at His Word. Once we do, we need to claim the promises and own them. There is no fear when Jesus is aboard. Remember the nobleman in Luke 8. He had asked Jesus to come and heal his daughter who was close to death. Jesus agreed but on the way, became involved with the woman who had the issue of blood. Jesus noticing that the nobleman was getting fearful, said to him, 'Do not be afraid, only believe (Luke 8:50).
There may be things in your life that need addressing. However, fear is holding you back. You may have a new job; be starting a business, or a new relationship. Fear makes you think, 'perhaps it would be better to give this a miss. It may go wrong.' But what if it goes right and you miss it. You may have given up the break that you have been waiting for.
When Moses went over the Red Sea, he had to take his stand before the water parted. Joshua too. The flooded Jordan River didn't part until the priests stepped into the water. Do you get the drift? Faith means we have to act first before we see the result. Fear will keep you in the same place forever, rather like the impala.
Probably it's time to bite the bullet and make a move. You'll be ok!

Let go of the greed

"Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness." Luke 11:39. NKJV
A few years ago, a collection of wildlife people went to some dark and distant rain forest in search of a very rare breed of monkey. When they arrived and had set up camp, they erected a specially designed table on the uneven jungle floor. This table was wooden with vases bolted to it. The vases were wide at the bottom but slimmed out towards the neck and then became slightly wider again. Each jar was filled, halfway, with very aromatic nuts. After they had done this, they took cover and waited.
After a time, several monkeys came along and were drawn towards the aromatic smell from the vases. Included in these bunch of monkeys, were the rarer ones. The monkeys began sniffing around and eventually plunged their hairy hands into the vases grabbing a fist full of these delights. However, because of the fact that the necks were very slim, and their hands were now fists full of these nuts, they were unable to pull them out. The monkeys tried all they could but to no avail. They never gave it a thought that if they let go of the nuts, they could draw their hands out and be free. Thus, they were caught. The monkey's greed and stubbornness imprisoned them.
Let's look at this from a human point of view. How many people are imprisoned by their greed. Years ago, one had to go to great lengths to take out a loan. Criteria was quite strict. Today, things are so different. We have credit cards that make it so simple to overspend in order to get that special something that someone else has. This may be the latest iPhone, Macbook, sound system, TV, car or a bigger and more extravagant home.
For many, before too long, the bills are so high that it is impossible to keep up the payments and then the pressures really start.
Stop and think for a moment. Do you really need the item that is burning a hole in your finances? Can you manage without it for a time; at least until you have saved enough money to buy it without credit? At times, there is a sense of urgency that we must have this certain thing, right now!. That's ok if you can afford it. However, closing your eyes to the fact and saying to yourself, 'I'll worry about this when the bill comes in,' is not the way to handle your finances. If you can't meet the payments, it will mean court action, bailiffs and all types of stress. Think before you spend. The monkey's wanted aromatic delights and in their insistence to have them, they were caught and imprisoned in their plight. Don't be like them.

You can't do it on your own

"Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain who build it." Psalm 127:1 NKJV
Unless God is in something, it will fail, at some time. It's no-good kidding ourselves, we need God. We can go so far without Him but when things begin to crumble, it can seem like an earthquake.
When a wall is whitewashed, the finished article can look lovely - clean and tidy. However, if the wall wasn't treated beforehand i.e. cracks filled in and sand-papered, then as the whitewash begins to dry the cracks will come to the surface and the finished article will look awful.
It's the same with our past. Unless we allow God to re-mould us, scars which were left unhealed, begin to fester. This could be failures in business or marriage; abuse or any other physically and emotionally damaging memory. Stuff like this needs dealing with and the best place to start is with God. We cannot continue to carry around hurts and failures from the past. They will catch up with us sooner or later, and perhaps that is where you are at this time.
You may have failed at something. Now this may be a marriage; it may be a business venture; you may have flunked your exams at Uni and loathe the thought of having to do this all again. In God's eyes, there are no failures, just errors that can be re-adjusted. Many people fail at things but they don't give up; they just find another way to attempt again. Thomas Edison is a good example of this. He failed thousands of times to perfect the lightbulb. On the next attempt, he was successful. He is quoted as saying:
'I have not failed, I have just found 10000 other ways that didn't work.'
That is the hallmark of success. He could have so easily packed it all in as a bad thing, but he carried on. However, I can't help thinking that with God, He may have found the right way sooner, and saved himself all of the frustration.
You've been let down. Things have not gone as you know they should have. You may have given up on what you know - deep down is a winner. Don't give up now. You may be closer than you think. However, this time, do it God's way.

God is with you

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned. Nor shall the flame scorch you." Isaiah 43:2. NKJV
Pressures and trials overwhelm us and it's almost like we can drown in them at times. We feel the heaviness of them and can feel that we're sinking because of the weight. However, as we look at God, He helps us to tread water. They are common to man. Everyone goes through bad times periodically. Notice here in this scripture, God's Word says 'When you pass through,' not 'If you pass through.' We all go through times of grief, sorrow, sickness, depression, fear and anxiety just to mention a few. What you're going through today is not unique.
God will take you through the toughest of circumstances. The level of the trial may be varied, rather like stepping into a still river or a raging sea or perhaps a major fire. But God will bring you through this very difficult time. In fact, He will be with you during it.
We only have to look at the three sons of Judah who were thrown into the Babylonian furnace. This furnace had been made incredibly hotter, nothing could survive it, even the man in control of the furnace. And yet, they walked through this fire, joined by a fourth person - the Angel of the Lord and when they were brought out, they were not burnt, their clothes were intact and there was not even a smell of smoke on them. Why? Because God was with them as He is you. He will take you through this situation. (See Daniel 3:19-25)
At times such as this, it is natural to become anxious, fearful and panicky. However, try not to. If you put God in control, He will pull you through this. The outcome however, you have to leave to Him. He will though, be at your side and get you to the other side of the situation.
God loves you and doesn't want you to be anxious. He knows where you are at this moment - what you're going through; what you're dreading. And He cares. Spend some time with Him. If He can join some people in a furnace and bring them out unscathed, He can meet you where you are at this time.

Don't be troubled

Let not your hearts be troubled ; believe in God, believe also in Me." John 14:1 RSV
God does not want you to be troubled, worried, scared or in any way fretful. For one thing, fretting in such a way can lead to sickness and all other kinds of problems. And it also solves no purpose at all; because the problems will still be there. People can try and alleviate the problems by submerging their brains in alcohol or drugs. However, when the effects wear off, the problems are still there.
I read somewhere that 90% of our worries never happen; only about 10% are real, solid worries. Think back to the things that you have worried about in the past. Chances are, many of them never were as bad as you initially thought they would be, perhaps none came to fruition. You may be in this 90%. However, if you are in the 10%; can you do anything realistic to resolve them? Go ahead if you can but you may need some help with them.
If that's the case, I know a man who can help. His Name is Jesus and He is great at working out problems. You can apply to Him quite easily. You don't need an appointment or need to ring a sophisticated telephone line, pressing many numbers followed by the hash or star key. Jesus is the star and He is available at a second's notice. The door is open; His heart is warm and ready to receive your requests and I envisage He has a smile on His face as He greets you.
You'll never get on His nerves by repeatedly asking Him for help. He is very patient and willing to help you. What is your worry today? He has already told us in (Matthew 6:23-34) not to worry, so surely this mean He is committed to helping us. What we must do is ask Him to help and then cast it over to Him, in other words, leave it with Him. Now this is not easy to do. It takes stamina, courage and indeed, faith. Without it, we will keep asking Him to help every hour or so.
Think, 'Do I trust Jesus with my life? Do I trust Him with all that I have'? If your answers are 'Yes," then you're almost there. If He doesn't want you worring, then He has a plan; and believe me, God's plans are good.

Use your time wisely

"Look carefully how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:15-16 RSV
There are two ways of looking at this; firstly, 'Make the most of your time' or secondly, 'Make the most of the time.' It is very wise to make the most of your time and seizing the opportunity, after all, you only live once, people say. Best to make the most of it.
However, making the most of the time is different. Look around you; it's almost like we're living in the last days. Perhaps we are. Evil is all around - people being stabbed on a daily basis. Then, there is human trafficking. What about drug taking and the vast amount of money that is made by the people who rule this business. These are just a fraction of the evil that is now ruling our planet.
Yet, God has called all Christians, to be His mouthpiece. To let people know that the time is short; the clock is ticking and one day, maybe sooner than we think, Jesus is going to return to gather all of His people to Himself. Christians will be raptured (gathered) and taken to be with Him. Then the world will be left to its own devices with the devil at the helm. This will only be for a short time however. then there will be The Second Coming, when Jesus will return, with His army - us, and He will put an end to the devil and His followers and a New Kingdom will be formed and we will reign with the King of kings forever and ever. Sadly, people who don't respond to His call, when they have the chance - when they are alive, will spend their existence totally separated from us all - forever.
Now is the time to make that decision to come to Jesus, while the time is right - while the opportunity is still there. One day, it will be too late. Please don't miss out on this. Once Jesus returns, it will be too late.
