Tired of Waiting?

"Wait on the LordBe of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!"                                                           Psalm 27:14   NKJV

No one likes waiting, it's bad enough at slow-changing traffic lights but, when we are waiting for something important to happen, it is difficult. However, let us take encouragement from Jesus' behaviour and patience. He has been waiting to fulfil His destiny since that first act of sin in the garden, and He is still waiting. Yet, He is not like we are, getting all flustered and frustrated; He takes everything in His stride. There's a lesson to learn here.

When we are waiting for God to bring about an answer to our prayers, we know that He will answer when the time is right. Therefore, we have a hope - a hope in Jesus. When we are watching an eclipse, we are amazed by the way it blocks the sun out. But, as we look beyond the eclipse, we know that the sun will shine again. King David said it all in verse 13:
'I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.'  Psalm 27:14 NKJV

Notice how David emphasises the 'I would have lost heart,' He would have felt like giving up, rather like we feel like doing at times. However, His heart was fixed on His Father. He had a certainty within his heart. David knew that God wouldn't let Him down but, he also knew that He wouldn't be rushed either. He is always right on time, never late and never early, as RT Kendall often writes in his books.

We are to wait with expectancy not just belief. God is leading you into the impossible - the supernatural and this is where He wants you to be, always. If we wait for God with a bad attitude such as, 'Well I suppose He'll answer me sometime but I bet He'll leave things out which I asked Him for.' An attitude like this doesn't, deserve an answer.

Be encouraged and of good courage and He will then strengthen your heart and this will make the waiting time seem like no time at all. Don’t forget, our time clock is far different to God's: 'But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years, as one day.'  2 Peter 3:8

If you don't know Jesus or, have fallen away, why not say this prayer right now

Lord Jesus, I have sinned. I ask you to forgive me and be my Lord and Saviour. Please come into my heart, fill me with Your Spirit and give me a brand new start today. In Jesus' Name. Amen
